I grew up on a small acreage in rural Sac County, Iowa. My parents were both public educators, and I attended two very small school districts until I went to college at the University of Northern Iowa in 2020. I focused on museum studies and public history after deciding that becoming a public educator wasn't the right path for me. I studied abroad in Greece and was a member of several academic organizations. I interned at the Iowa Museums Association, the UNI Museum, the Iowa Masonic Library, and the UNI Special Collections. I graduated magna cum laude in December 2022.
I began my master's studies at Bowling Green State University in the fall of 2023. I had the great pleasure to continue working with my mentor, Dr. Cheryl Dong, during my time at BGSU, where I shifted focus to studying early-20th century Midwestern public history. I continued volunteering and working at local museums, including the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library, the Wood County Museum, and the National Museum of the Great Lakes. I was part of a major oral history project which I presented at the 2024 Oral History Association, 2024 National Council on Public History, and 2024 Ohio Latin Americanist Association conferences. I was also the recipient of two academic awards for merit and writing through BGSU.
In May of 2025, I joined the History Center of Olmsted County as their full-time Collections Manager.
My driving force is a deep love of history. I enjoy the thrill of discovering something new hidden in the past, especially when that discovery can shine light on a historical injustice. I'm currently working on a study examining the effects of nativist political movements on local Iowa immigrant populations during the First World War.
I'm a fan of fantasy, science fiction, and classical literature. I also enjoy all different types of video games, board games, and movies in my spare time.
